Quick Eval
Quick Eval is an evaluation tool in Brightspace, which can be particularly helpful to instructors teaching multiple courses. This tool is linked to your Brightspace account and compiles a list of all ungraded assessments across multiple courses in Brightspace.
Benefits
- Prioritize what needs to be graded and easily identify what could be time-sensitive.
- No need to go into multiple course sites to access various ungraded submissions.
- Various sorting options including date, activity name and course.
Drawbacks
- Cannot bulk download from this tool should you choose to grade off-line.
- Assessments set-up with video assignments using online rooms and group assignments will not appear in Quick Eval
- All ungraded assessments remain in the Quick Eval list until a course is deactivated.
Considerations
- A pdf version of the submitted file is created if downloading directly from the Assignment evaluation tool.
- All assessments remain in the list until they are graded and feedback is published
- Items that appear in the list as draft have been reviewed but not returned; this may be useful if you want to return all assignments at the same time.
- Assessments set-up with auto-grading will not appear in Quick Eval.
- If your Assignments, Discussions, and Quizzes are set up to be evaluated anonymously with required user information privacy permissions, then submissions are listed anonymously in Quick Eval.

1. Can I evaluate anonymously using Quick Eval?
There is no special anonymous evaluation mode for Quick Eval. If your Assignments, Discussions, and Quizzes are set up to be evaluated anonymously with required user information privacy permissions, then submissions are listed anonymously in Quick Eval. If all activities are not anonymized, then evaluators may see user information on some of the submitted work. If anonymity while evaluating is critical and you are not confident of the setup of Assignments, Quizzes and Discussions, D2L recommends against using Quick Eval.
2. Does Quick Eval display feedback saved as a draft?
Quick Eval displays feedback for Assignments that is saved as a draft and not published; this is not visible to the student until published.
3. Can I filter the Quick Eval list by section?
No, the Quick Eval list cannot be filtered by sections. However, an evaluator only sees submissions from the sections they are enrolled in.
4. What is the default size of the Quick Eval list?
The Quick Eval list shows 20 unevaluated learner submissions. Users can click on Load More to see more items.
5. Are SCORM objects or LTI activities listed in Quick Eval?
Quick Eval does not list SCORM objects and LTI activities like Bongo video assignments.
6. Are grade items listed in Quick Eval?
Quick Eval does not list grade items. Quick Eval only lists activities from Assignments, Quizzes and Discussions that have learner submissions.
7. What are the criteria for displaying Assessment submissions in Quick Eval?
