Options for Recording Lectures

CITL offers a number of lecture recording services that instructors can avail of on campus. CITL also supports instructors who prefer to record lectures on their own devices.

On-Campus Recording

If you wish to record your on-campus classes or events and later share the recordings with students, you can avail of one of the two options below (click the menu items to view details).

1. Classroom Studio

If you are looking for a highly supported approach, CITL’s specialized Classroom Studio may be your best option. Using familiar classroom technology, a CITL video production expert will record your lectures and upload them to CITL’s Video Uploading and Hosting server. You can then embed your videos into your Brightspace course site.

You can learn more and schedule a session on our Classroom Studio homepage.

2. Lecture Capture Classrooms

CITL also offers Lecture Capture technology for recording of in-person lectures using specialized classrooms across campus. Lecture Capture records a small video image of the instructor, the instructor’s voice, and all information projected through the data projector. Links to recordings created using Lecture Capture automatically show up in your Brightspace course site.

Lecture Capture is available in multiple classrooms around the St. John’s and Grenfell campuses.

Do-It-Yourself Recording

If you prefer a do-it-yourself approach, you can record your lectures on your own device. Once you generate video files on your own computer, you should upload them through the CITL Video Uploader tool in Brightspace. You can then embed the videos into any of your Brightspace course sites.

The list below highlights some of the software and services you can use to record your own lectures. NOTE: Some of the options below do not require managing video files.

Once you record a lecture in the Online Rooms, a URL link is generated for the recording, so you can easily copy and share it in your Brightspace course site.

The resulting video file can be saved to the Webex cloud, and A URL link along with a password will be generated for your recording. You can then share the link and password with students in your Brightspace course. Alternatively, you can save the video file to your computer for further editing with your own editing software.
