Mapping the operative moment of generative AI (CITL Instructor Series)
January 21 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
The presenter for this session is Dr. Aaron Tucker, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of English.
Gaining a clear understanding of how generative AI functions is critical to making informed decisions on how it can impact you and your teaching practice.
In this introductory-level workshop, Dr. Tucker will explore with participants the basics of artificial neural networks and provide an overview of contemporary machine learning techniques. Participants will then map the basics of how text-based and image-based Generative AI, such as ChatGPT and DALL-E, operate. From this, participants will reflect on how this enhanced literacy can be incorporated into their own pedagogy, through assignment design, lecture materials, and discussions of academic integrity.
This is a hybrid session (offered online and in-person) and it will be recorded.
If attending online, it is recommended that you attend this session using one of the following internet browsers: Chrome, Microsoft Edge (Chromium) or Firefox. You can join the session 10 minutes before the start time.
If attending in-person, the session will be held in the TLX (ED 1001).
Registration is required for this event.
