High-Impact Practices: Building Course and Program Level Capacity

May 25, 2021 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

High-impact practices (HIPs) have been widely tested and shown to positively benefit student engagement, learning, and success; however, research also shows that many students do not have opportunities to engage in a host of these activities as they progress through their post-secondary education. This session will introduce several HIPs and explore ways that they can be implemented at both the course and program level. The session will begin with a brief presentation. After that, attendees will be asked to work in small groups to identify ways they can build capacity to have HIPs become a cornerstone of their courses or programs of study.

This session builds on a previous HIPs session titled Exploring High-Impact Practices: Why are they so important?, which was offered in the Winter 2021 semester. For those that are new to HIPs, you are encouraged to view the recording of the Winter 2021 session (the recording can be found here) before attending this session. Note that while you are encouraged to view the Winter 2021 session, it is not essential that you do so.

This session will be hosted in Webex. Registration is required for this event – please follow the link below to register.
