class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grading in peerScholar<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"note\">\n<h4>Note<\/h4>\n<p>This resource includes the steps for grading a peerScholar activity. For information about how to configure the grading in peerScholar, see also <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/?page_id=6381\" target=\"_blank\">Configuring the Grading<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Depending on how the grading was configured, the grading area of peerScholar will allow instructors to do the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>View the feedback that each peer provided on the student\u2019s work<\/li><li>View the original composition, revised composition, and composition changes for each student<\/li><li>Grade the final version of each student\u2019s assignment<\/li><li>Grade all students according to:<ol><li>Peer Ratings configuration<\/li><li>Student Participation configuration<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps for Grading<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/files\/2019\/10\/peerScholar-gradenow-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6343\" width=\"836\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/files\/2019\/10\/peerScholar-gradenow-1.png 999w, https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/files\/2019\/10\/peerScholar-gradenow-1-300x65.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/files\/2019\/10\/peerScholar-gradenow-1-768x165.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 836px) 100vw, 836px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step one<\/strong>: Open the <strong>Student Grading<\/strong> area \u2013 there are two ways of doing this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click <strong>Student Progress &amp; Grading<\/strong> and click the arrow under grades for the student whose grade you would like to calculate<\/li><li>From the <strong>Overview <\/strong>page, click <strong>Grade Now<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step two<\/strong>: Select a student to grade<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you use <strong>Grade Now, <\/strong>the grading area will open on the first student in the list<\/li><li>You can choose a specific student to grade via <strong>Student Progress &amp; Grading<\/strong><\/li><li>Choose a different student in the grading area by clicking the list icon in the orange bar or by using the forward and back arrows<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step three<\/strong>: Evaluate and provide a grade using the <strong>Instructor Grades<\/strong> panel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Using the assessment(s) provided, grade the final version of each student\u2019s assignment<\/li><li>Consider the following information as part of your evaluation:<ul><li>Peer feedback<\/li><li>Improvements\/changes made to the original composition<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Click <strong>Save<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step four<\/strong>: When all students have been evaluated, complete the <strong>Peer Rating<\/strong> and <strong>Student Participation<\/strong> grades<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click the vertical ellipse, then <strong>Grade All <\/strong>and confirm by clicking \u201c<strong>okay<\/strong>\u201d. All students will be graded according to Peer Ratings &amp; Participation<\/li><li>The Overview page will show the number of students that have been graded<\/li><li>When complete, change the star icon in the grading box of the Overview page to make the grades visible to students<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Viewing Student Grades<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways to view and export student grades in peerScholar:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click <strong>Gradebook <\/strong>on the left-side navigation \u2013 student grades will be displayed for all course activities<\/li><li>Click <strong>Gradebook <\/strong>and then click <strong>Download CSV<\/strong><\/li><li>Click <strong>Grade Now<\/strong> and then click the vertical ellipse in the <strong>Student Grading<\/strong>. Click <strong>Grading Details<\/strong>&nbsp;to download a spreadsheet of the student grades<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transferring Grades<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways to transfer grades from peerScholar to Brightspace where students can see their grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Manually\u00a0(useful for fairly small classes)<ul><li>Open the <strong>Gradebook <\/strong>in peerScholar. All of the student grades for each activity will be displayed here. Open <strong>Grades <\/strong>in Brightspace and manually enter the grade that each student achieved.<\/li><li><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: You can also enter the grades manually using a spreadsheet of the grades (see #2 and #3 below)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Export and Import Using a CSV file\u00a0(useful for fairly large classes)<ul><li>Open the <strong>Gradebook <\/strong>in peerScholar and click <strong>Download CSV<\/strong>. Follow the instructions for importing grades in Brightspace.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Sync Grades Between peerScholar and Brightspace<ul><li>Open the <strong>Gradebook <\/strong>in peerScholar and click <strong>Sync Grades<\/strong>. peerScholar will create a grade item in Brightspace for the assignment and will populate the grade item.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"note\">\n<h4>A Cautionary Note About Syncing Grades<\/h4>\n<p>Clicking Sync Grades in the peerScholar Gradebook will create and populate a peerScholar item in the Brightspace Grades. This is only useful for a course with ONE peerScholar activity.
