It is a web-based platform that enables instructors and students to access course materials from any device, at any time, and from any location. Brightspace provides a convenient, centralized space with a wide range of tools to support the delivery and facilitation of courses regardless of the delivery mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways to access Brightspace:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go directly to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/online.mun.ca\/d2l\/loginh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">online.mun.ca<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Memorial\u2019s homepage<\/a>, click <strong>Log In<\/strong> in the top right corner and select <strong>Brightspace<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in to <a href=\"https:\/\/my.mun.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my.mun.ca<\/a>, go to the <strong>Employees <\/strong>tab at the top of the page, and use the <strong>Brightspace Login<\/strong> widget.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To log in to Brightspace, use your MUN login ID and password &#8211; the same password you use to login to my.mun or to access your @mun email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brightspace for Instructors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A Brightspace course site (or shell) is automatically created for every course at Memorial. Once an instructor is assigned to teach a course and is listed in Memorial\u2019s student registration system (Banner), they are automatically enrolled in the corresponding Brightspace course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are teaching more than one section of a course or a cross-listed course, you may choose to combine them into a single Brightspace site, making it easier to manage course content and communications. Learn more in our <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/tech-res-dev\/combining-course-sections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Combining Course Sections<\/a> resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note-container has-base-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to have a Brightspace site for testing and course development, please contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL Support Centre<\/a>. A development site allows you to build and test course content before copying it into your regular course site.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brightspace for Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are automatically added to a course site based on their registration status in Banner. If a student drops a course, they are automatically removed from that Brightspace course (no action is required by the instructor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brightspace for Teaching Assistants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Teaching assistants (TAs) can easily get access to a course in Brightspace. Instructors can use <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/brightspace-how-tos\/course-admin\/course-site-enrollment-tool-in-brightspace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Course Site Enrollment Tool<\/a> to add a TA to their Brightspace course. Alternatively, instructors can submit a request to the <a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL Support Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note-container has-base-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Teaching Assistants have access to the Classlist, Grades, Quizzes and the Assignments tool. However, they <strong>cannot <\/strong>upload content.
