It is a web-based technology, which means that you and your students can access a course in Brightspace from any device, from anywhere, at any time. It is a convenient \u2018one-stop shop\u2019 with many different types of tools to assist you in the delivery and facilitation of your course.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-33763\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle semesterstartupfaq\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> What is a course shell?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>A course shell is an older term used to refer to the Brightspace site for your course.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-33765\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle semesterstartupfaq\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> How do I get a Brightspace course site for my course?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>If you are teaching a course in the current semester, you will automatically be provided with a Brightspace course site. Once you are listed as the instructor in Banner (Memorial\u2019s student registration system) each semester, a Brightspace course site will be automatically created for you for each of your courses.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-33767\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle semesterstartupfaq\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> Can I get a Brightspace site for testing and development?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>Yes. Please contact <a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL Support Centre<\/a> to make your request.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-33769\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle semesterstartupfaq\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> Do I have to get ANOTHER username and password?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>No. All you need to log in to Brightspace is your MUN login ID and password (the same password you use to login to my.mun or to access webmail).<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-33771\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle semesterstartupfaq\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> Where do I go to log in to Brightspace?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>There are several ways to access Brightspace:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go directly to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/online.mun.ca\/d2l\/loginh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">online.mun.ca<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Memorial\u2019s homepage<\/a>, click <strong>Log In<\/strong> in the top right corner and select <strong>Brightspace<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in to <a href=\"https:\/\/my.mun.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my.mun.ca<\/a>, go to the <strong>Employees <\/strong>tab at the top of the page, and use the <strong>Brightspace Login<\/strong> widget.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"qaef-33773\" class=\"qe-faq-toggle semesterstartupfaq\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-title\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-minus-circle\"><\/i> If I teach multiple sections, will I have a separate course site for each section?\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>By default, a separate course site is created in Brightspace for every course section in Banner. However, if you are teaching multiple sections of the same course or if your course is cross-listed, you have the option of creating a single Brightspace course site that combines all the sections. If you choose that route, all sections of the course you are teaching will share the same course site. Also, you will only have to maintain one course site instead of multiple ones. You can learn more about this on our <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/whats-new\/combining-course-sections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">combining sections page<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructors cannot combine course sections themselves. I thought I would see everything I had set up last semester.\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"qe-toggle-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\n<p>Each term you will get a new empty course site for the courses you are teaching. You can then copy all of the content and settings from a previous offering into your new course site. This only takes a few seconds. TAs can be given access to your courses. They <strong>cannot <\/strong>upload content.
