Please note that only users with existing Brightspace accounts can be added using this tool. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note-container has-base-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By enrolling someone into your course site, you are exposing <strong>your personal information<\/strong> and the <strong>personal information of your students<\/strong> to a third party. You are also providing access to <strong>your teaching materials<\/strong> and potentially <strong>academic submissions of students<\/strong>. It is important that you understand the risks before enrolling someone into your course site and ensure they are aware of their responsibilities with regards to your teaching materials and protecting student information. You can learn more about privacy policies and procedures from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/policy\/browse\/policies\/view.php?policy=228\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">university&#8217;s policy website<\/a>. This will grant the student permission to your course, but exclude the student from grading.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Before adding a student auditor, review the academic regulations regarding <strong>Auditing Students<\/strong> as outlined in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/university-calendar\/university-regulations-undergraduate\/6\/5\/#6.5.10\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/university-calendar\/university-regulations-undergraduate\/6\/5\/#6.5.10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 6.5.10 of the University Calendar<\/a>. This section provides important details on the auditing process, including permissions required, eligibility, registration requirements, and related policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note-container has-base-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to add a student to your course for the purpose of grading, the student must complete the &#8216;add a course&#8217; process through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/regoff\/registration-and-final-exams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Registrar&#8217;s Office<\/a>, and the student will be added in an automatic update from Banner. If you need student access sooner, or have another student use case, please reach out to the <a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL Support Centre<\/a> to discuss.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A student who needs extended access to your course<\/strong> &#8211; If you have approved a student to write a deferred exam, you can give that particular student extended access to your course material. This role bypasses normal end date restrictions on course sites, but otherwise is identical to a student role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #f1f1f1; border-top-left-radius: 8px; border-top-right-radius: 8px; border-bottom-left-radius: 8px; border-bottom-right-radius: 8px; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #f1f1f1;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-d4c424b8-14bf-453c-befc-acd879186f38\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-d4c424b8-14bf-453c-befc-acd879186f38\" style=\"color: #000000; \">Who cannot be added<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-d4c424b8-14bf-453c-befc-acd879186f38\">\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Additional instructors<\/strong> &#8211; You should not add other instructors to your course site for two reasons:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Instructor-level enrollments are done automatically based on information entered into Memorial&#8217;s Banner system. If you want to add another instructor to your course site, you should contact your academic support staff and request that the other instructor be added to Banner. If that isn&#8217;t possible, or if you are collaborating with an instructor external to Memorial, reach out to the <a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL Support Centre<\/a> with the details of your request. In most cases such requests can be fulfilled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sometimes you may want to enroll another instructor into your course sites in order to share your course content with them. <strong>However,<\/strong> please note that this will give them access not only to your content, but also to student information and academic submissions. If you need to share content with another Brightspace user, reach out to the <a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL Support Centre<\/a> to discuss your options. There are a number of ways to accomplish this goal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Individuals external to Memorial<\/strong> &#8211; You cannot add an individual without a Brightspace account to a course site. If you want to add someone external to Memorial, please reach out to the <a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL Support Centre<\/a> with the details, and we will create accounts and complete the enrollment for you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #f1f1f1; border-top-left-radius: 8px; border-top-right-radius: 8px; border-bottom-left-radius: 8px; border-bottom-right-radius: 8px; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #f1f1f1;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-2-d4c424b8-14bf-453c-befc-acd879186f38\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-d4c424b8-14bf-453c-befc-acd879186f38\" style=\"color: #000000; \">Roles explained<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-2-d4c424b8-14bf-453c-befc-acd879186f38\">\n\n<p>You can enroll users in Brightspace in a number of different roles. Each role has limits around what activities and tools can be accessed within your course site. The available roles are listed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Student Auditor<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A &#8216;student auditor&#8217; has the same permissions as a student in Brightspace, but cannot be assigned grades for submitted work and is not listed in the grade book.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appears on the classlist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Student Deferred<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A &#8216;student deferred&#8217; has the same permissions as a student, except they have continual access to your course site after the end date of the course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>This role only appears after classes have ended for a particular semester but before the exam period begins.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appears on the classlist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>TA<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The TA role gives the user instructor-like access to some areas of your course site. TAs are able to assist in grading assessments, participating in discussions and viewing content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The TA role behaves like an instructor in some tools and like a student in others. You can view a complete list of what each role can on our <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/tech-res-dev\/understanding-roles-in-brightspace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">role information page<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appears on the classlist under the TA tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enhanced TA<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Enhanced TA is identical to the Instructor role in a course site and provides access to all tools and information contained within the course site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appears on the classlist under the TA tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group note-container has-base-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You cannot use the Course Enrollment Tool to override any roles that are automatically assigned from Banner (students or instructors).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #f1f1f1; \">Enrolling a user<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-3-d4c424b8-14bf-453c-befc-acd879186f38\">\n\n<p>Before you can enroll someone in your Brightspace course site, you will need the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Their Brightspace username (usually it is the first part of their MUN email address).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information about the course you are enrolling them in.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The role you want them to have in the course.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have that information, you can follow the instructions below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to Brightspace. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the homepage, locate the <strong>My Dashboard<\/strong> widget and select &#8216;Instructors&#8217; This is most often someone&#8217;s MUN Login ID. The easiest way to collect this information is to ask the user for the username they use to log into Brightspace. <strong>NOTE: <\/strong>You need to collect a user&#8217;s true @mun.ca ID (e.g. <strong><em>zsm45@mun.ca<\/em><\/strong>) and not an alias (e.g. <strong><em>zoes@mun.ca<\/em><\/strong>). Aliases will not work in the enrollment tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"course_list\"><strong>Course List<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can only enroll other account users into courses where you are an instructor.
