DESCRIPTION:The presenter for this session is Dr. Kevin Power\, Associate Dean Undergraduate Studies\, School of Human Kinetics and Recreation. \nAllowing students to demonstrate their understanding of course content in a manner that is relevant to them not only aides in the retention of knowledge\, but increases student engagement. \nIn this session Dr. Kevin Power will share his thoughts and experiences on allowing students to use their creativity to demonstrate learning\, and how it can be more effective than other traditional approaches. There will be an opportunity to learn about specific activities and assessments used\, including the critical considerations to ensure successful implementation. DESCRIPTION:The presenter for this session is Dr. Rachel Prowse\, Assistant Professor\, Faculty of Medicine. \n Podcasting can be a dynamic assessment approach that engages students creatively while offering an alternative to traditional assessments. In this session\, Dr. Rachel Prowse from Memorial’s Faculty of Medicine will share how she implemented this type of assessment in her graduate level Professional Practice course in an effort to enhance critical thinking\, communication skills\, and subject mastery. There will be an opportunity to hear about Dr. Prowse’s strategy for designing the podcast-based assessment\, and learn from the feedback offered by students about their experience.
