SUMMARY:Give Your Brightspace Course a ‘Facelift’ with Easy-to-Use Templates
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered how to make your Brightspace course look more polished and visually appealing? In this workshop\, we will provide some tips on how to achieve that – all without any knowledge of HMTL. \nWe will introduce two sources of templates that you can import into Brightspace and modify: the ‘Brightspace Course Setup Kit’ and D2L’s HTML Templates. We will walk you through the template pages and demonstrate how to customize them according to your instructional needs. We will also focus on using various page components (tables\, images\, headings\, accordion items\, etc.) and show you how to effectively incorporate them into your Brightspace pages. \nThis session will be hosted in Webex. You can join the session 10 minutes before the start time. It is recommended that you attend this session using one of the following internet browsers: Chrome\, Microsoft Edge or Firefox. \nRegistration is required for this event. *CLICK HERE TO REGISTER*

SUMMARY:Supporting Student Progress Through Lesser Known Brightspace Tools
DESCRIPTION:Brightspace offers a range of tools that allow instructors to monitor student activity in a course such as their engagement with the course material or participation in discussions. Other Brightspace tools let you identify students who may be at risk (and those who are succeeding)\, and send those students automated yet personalized emails to help them stay motivated. \nThis session will focus on using the Class Progress tool to monitor student activity in Brightspace and using Intelligent Agents to help stay on the right track in their learning journey.

SUMMARY:Rubrics in Brightspace
DESCRIPTION:Rubrics are an effective and efficient way to authentically assess student learning. Articulating specific criteria by which students will be assessed helps learners to prepare more thoughtful submissions that are aligned with your expectations. As an added bonus\, rubrics provide an objective and systematic method for grading work. Brightspace Rubrics tool offers a variety of rubric types and easy-to-modify templates to meet your specific assessment needs. \nThis session will provide an overview of the benefits and best practices in designing rubrics\, an introduction to rubrics in Brightspace\, along with step-by-step guidance on how to create and add a rubric to your assessment. \nThis session will be hosted in Webex. You can join the session 10 minutes before the start time. SUMMARY:Creating Secure Assessments with Advanced Quiz Settings
DESCRIPTION:Presenting each student in your course with a slightly different version of the same quiz deters academic dishonesty and thus increases the integrity of the assessment. \nThe Quizzes tool in Brightspace allows instructors to configure quizzes in a way that will present each student with a different version of the same quiz. In this session\, various methods of randomizing a Brightspace quiz will be illustrated such as shuffling questions and answer choices; creating a question pool and populating a quiz (or a section within it) with a random selection of questions from the pool; and more. The function of the ‘Question Library’ will also be discussed.
