SUMMARY:Peer Review: An Assessment Approach (CITL Instructor Series)
DESCRIPTION:The presenter for this session is Dr. Jillian Gould\, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Newfoundland and Labrador Studies. \nUsing Peer Review as an assessment strategy presents many benefits to the students and the instructor. Peer review fosters students’ awareness of their own and others’ learning\, while encouraging the development of skills like critical thinking and providing constructive feedback and helps to develop critical thinking skills. \nIn this session\, Dr. Gould will explain the rationale for adding this form of assessment to her undergraduate Folklore course\, and speak to the challenges and opportunities presented through its implementation. \nThis is an online session and it will be recorded. You can join the session 10 minutes before the start time. It is recommended that you attend this session using one of the following internet browsers:  Chrome\, Microsoft Edge (Chromium) or Firefox. \nRegistration is required for this event. *CLICK HERE TO REGISTER*

SUMMARY:Social Media Use in the Classroom (CITL Instructor Series)
DESCRIPTION:The presenters for this session are Adrienne Peters\, PhD (she/her)\, Assistant Professor\, Undergraduate Director of Criminology\, Department of Sociology; and Laura Squires (M.A.)\, Project Coordinator at fasdNL. \nLimited research suggests that social media is a tool that can positively impact student engagement in the online classroom\, which is especially relevant in the case of the COVID-19 pandemic and learning formats transitioning online. You can read their full article here.
