SUMMARY:Connecting Research and Practice in a Feedback Focused Classroom (part of CITL Instructor Series)
DESCRIPTION:In many applied fields (e.g.\, education\, social work\, and so forth)\, the gap between research and practice can be wide. In this session\, Dr. Joelle Rodway will discuss her use of a portfolio-based assessment strategy that emphasizes critical reflection as a pathway for connecting research and practice. Joelle will provide a detailed overview of the learning block structure that underpins the course design and explain how using thinking routines and critical reflection is enabling graduate students to make connections between their academic and professional lives. Central to the success of this approach is a deliberate focus on feedback\, providing an example how grading less is encouraging risk-taking and deeper learning. \nPresenter: Dr. Joelle Rodway\, Assistant Professor\, Faculty of Education. \nRegistration is required for this event – please follow the link below to register: \n*REGISTER* \nThis is an online session and will be recorded. \nYou can join the session 10 minutes before the start time.
