SUMMARY:Let's Talk: AI in your classroom by Melanie Doyle and Carolyn Best (Coffee Break)
DESCRIPTION:Generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT are changing the way instructors assign and assess writing in university classrooms. Whether you’re concerned how generative AI may impact students’ learning or excited by the possibility of streamlining your lesson planning\, ChatGPT and similar tools will likely influence your teaching in the coming semesters. \nJoin CITL staff and the Writing Centre for a casual coffee break to ask questions and discuss generative AI in your classroom. You may be wondering how to address ChatGPT on your syllabus\, or perhaps you want to delve into a conversation on authentic assessment\, academic integrity\, writing pedagogy\, and student support. This coffee break is intended to spark discussion and share ideas. \nThis coffee break will be hosted in the Teaching and Learning Exchange TLX (ED 1001)\, St. John’s campus or you can participate remotely using Webex. Light refreshments will be served on-site. Don’t forget to bring your own cup! \nRegistration is required for this event. If participating remotely\, you will receive the access link prior to the event. \nPlease contact LTC_CITL@mun.ca with any accessibility questions or accommodation requests.
