Does size matter?

The jury’s still out on the impact of large classes on student learning, according to a new study by the Higher Education Quality Control of Ontario. But large class sizes are a fact of life in higher education, prompting post-secondary institutions to explore new ways to maintain and improve quality learning — from building community through social media to initiating peer mentorships. But if size matters, the report finds that skill and competency of the instructor, teaching methods and course design probably matter more.
