Objects found within are free for use (unless otherwise specified). The contents range in subject, type and complexity. The role and function of learning object repositories is explained in this resource. Details relating to Linney&#8217;s contribution criteria are outlined below.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contribution criteria<\/h3>\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle wp-block-ub-content-toggle-block\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-block-b2a7fe70-d011-40db-8d16-87352fb9001c\" data-mobilecollapse=\"false\" data-desktopcollapse=\"true\" data-preventcollapse=\"false\" data-showonlyone=\"true\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #f1f1f1; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-ffd43d93-a4e9-47d9-977b-c1f628ebe518\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #f1f1f1;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-0-b2a7fe70-d011-40db-8d16-87352fb9001c\" tabindex=\"0\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-b2a7fe70-d011-40db-8d16-87352fb9001c\" style=\"color: #000000; \">What are Linney&#8217;s contribution criteria?<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-0-b2a7fe70-d011-40db-8d16-87352fb9001c\">\n<p>Each object must:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>include a learning design (learning objective, description of how it\u2019s used in instructional event)<\/li>\n<li>be digital (or able to be digitized)<\/li>\n<li>be in a legible format (minimum quality)<\/li>\n<li>meet file size maximum (consider file type and size)<\/li>\n<li>be shareable with other communities and use creative commons by its owner<\/li>\n<li>clearly identify ownership (able to provide permission to contribute)<\/li>\n<li>be interoperable (playable on multiple platforms and devices)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Repositories<\/h2>\n<p>There are a variety of repositories available around the world. Some focus on specific media types, topics or audiences. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.opendoar.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Open<\/em>DOAR<\/a> is a site that lists all open repositories around the world. Below, we list a few repositories that we have used at CITL over the years:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gettyimages.ca\/photos\/education?license=rf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Education Image Gallery<\/a> &#8211; Free images from the Getty collection.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/freephotos.cc\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Freephotos.cc<\/a> &#8211; A collection of free photographs for private non-commercial use.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.openeducationeuropa.eu\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Learning Objects Brokered Exchange<\/a> &#8211; A community for all those involved or interested in digital, open and innovative education.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imageafter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Image*After<\/a> &#8211; large, free photo collection, with images free for any use.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/pictures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Library of Congress Prints &amp; Photographs online<\/a> &#8211; (not all are copyright-free).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.merlot.org\/merlot\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MERLOT II<\/a>&nbsp;is repository of peer reviewed multimedia educational resources for learning and online teaching.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/metmuseum.org\/about-the-museum\/press-room\/news\/2014\/oasc-access\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Metropolitan Museum<\/a>&nbsp;offers free access to over 400 000 high res images for scholarly use. As long as the image has OASC (Open Access for Scholarly Content) in the info it is free for non-commercial use.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/odyssey.lib.vt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Odyssey &#8211; VirginiaTech University Libraries<\/a> &#8211;&nbsp;Odyssey is a learning objects repository created and maintained by the University Libraries at Virginia Tech.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksmuseum.nl\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rijksmuseum&nbsp;<\/a>&nbsp;offers free downloads for both commercial and non-commercial use.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/linney.mun.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Linney<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; learning object repository supported by Memorial University that aims to promote an atmosphere of sharing where learning objects can be searched, reused, repurposed and contributed.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisc-online.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wisc-Online<\/a> &#8211;&nbsp;digital library of objects has been developed primarily by faculty from the Wisconsin&nbsp;Technical College System (WTCS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">References<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list ref-list\">\n<li>DELT.
