Sharing Course Content<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-0-5747cdee-13b7-4f06-8885-4834f04a9068\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Synchronous Recordings<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Record classes using Webex or Online Rooms in Brightspace.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If using Webex,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/other-edtech\/webex-getting-started\/brightspace-webex-integrations-getting-started\/\">integrate it with your Brightspace site<\/a>.\u00a0This allows for the recordings to be posted directly to the course site within 24 hours of the scheduled class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Record on-campus classes using<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/lecture-capture\/\">\u00a0Lecture Capture<\/a>\u00a0technology, available in specific classrooms. Recordings are published to the Brightspace site within 24 hours of the scheduled class time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><section class='notebox tipbox'><aside><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Instructors recording on-campus in a classroom should contact\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/citl\/classroom-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL\u2019s Classroom Support team<\/a>\u00a0for audio\/visual assistance.<\/li>\n<li>When recording live classes, it is important to consider\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/recording-lectures-privacy-issues\/\">student privacy<\/a>. Students must be notified when the class is being recorded. In some cases, editing could be required so that any sensitive information from the class can be omitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/aside><\/section><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Asynchronous Materials<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reuse appropriate material or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/copy-components\/\">copy components<\/a>\u00a0from a previous course offering. Contact\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/citl.mun.ca\/support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL\u2019s Support Centre<\/a>\u00a0for assistance.<\/li>\n<li>Post your class notes to Brightspace. You can post text, images, or PowerPoints presentations that you use to teach, or you can create a recording of your class notes and presentations using any<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/recording-lectures-class-activities\/\">\u00a0Do-it Yourself recording<\/a>\u00a0options.<\/li>\n<li>Apply a<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/instructionalresources\/flipped-classroom\/\">\u00a0flipped approach<\/a>. Use pre-recorded lectures for the at-home work and in-person time for question and answer periods, application activities, tutorials, or team work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><section class='notebox tipbox'><aside><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Avoid having students download large video files. Use a streaming service, such as using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/other-edtech\/citl-video-uploader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CITL\u2019s Self-Service Video Uploader<\/a>, to share video recordings.<\/li>\n<li>Chunk material into manageable segments versus long text segments and recordings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/aside><\/section><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Measures<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have students who attend class engage in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facultyfocus.com\/articles\/online-education\/online-assessment-grading-and-feedback\/collaborative-note-taking-as-an-alternative-to-recording-online-sessions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0collaborative note-taking<\/a>. To help ensure accuracy, notes can be reviewed by instructional staff (Instructor and\/or TA) before being published in the Brightspace course site.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage peer sharing by creating a Class Notes<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/brightspace-how-tos\/communication\/using-the-discussion-tool\/\">\u00a0discussion topic in Brightspace<\/a>\u00a0for students to share their notes or other study aides with their classmates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><section class='notebox tipbox'><aside><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ensuring Accessibility<\/h4>\n<p>Regardless of how content is shared, instructors should ensure the content is accessible for all. Activating closed captioning and\/or providing transcripts must be considered when using recorded material. Instructors and peers can provide feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Deadlines<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consider flexible deadlines. Monitor timing of submissions to ensure students are current with class work.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust deadlines so the student can plan for their work and to give you time to grade it and provide feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Use the<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.citl.mun.ca\/technologyresources\/special-access-versus-accommodation\">\u00a0Special Access tool in Brightspace<\/a>\u00a0to extend access for those who are permitted to make late submissions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Evaluation of Student Work<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review university regulation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun.ca\/regoff\/calendar\/sectionNo=REGS-0601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">6.7 Evaluation of Student Work<\/a>\u00a0before adjusting your methods of evaluation.<\/li>\n<li>The method of evaluation presented in the course syllabus may be changed, provided university regulation 6.7.4, Changing the Method of Evaluation, is followed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><section class='notebox tipbox'><aside><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips<\/h4>\n<p>If your assessment approach is impacted because of student absences, consult your academic unit before presenting alternatives.
