Customizing Your Course Site
Welcome to the Brightspace Course Setup Kit. This site is organized in a way that allows you to customize it to meet your instructional needs. CITL has added resources that you may find beneficial when organizing key content, in addition to some general resources that your students could use to prepare for and succeed in the course.
As you begin editing and adding your content to this site, it is important to understand that you are not expected to build a fully online learning experience. Focus on the tools you are most comfortable with, and design to the lowest common denominator when it comes to technology use. Also keep in mind that the technology your students are using at home may be limited and could prevent them from actively participating in planned activities.
Here are a couple of quick tips to get you started:
- Items noted as a Web Page can be edited by you. We recommend using the editor in Brightspace, as we did our best to ensure the style is accessible for those who may access the site using assistive technology. For information on editing web pages in Brightspace, please refer to this Content Tool resource.
- Items noted as Links are managed by CITL and, should we need to make updates to these pages, they will be automatically applied to your site without any intervention from you (i.e. Library service, technical help, etc.)
- Weekly Modules include three general content pages that you can edit with your specific content. You can embed media, add images or simply type content into the editor. You can also add additional pages and links to assessments. Check out our Brightspace Guides for tips on how to do this.
